Every time you approach your McLaren 650S Spider, you’ll feel the same tingle of excitement the day you first set your eyes on it. Every panel, every surface, every detail has been painstakingly designed to look just as good whether sitting in your driveway with the roof up or down.
Here in Melbourne when it stops raining, the sun comes out, you don’t want to pull over… no problem, Just press one button and the McLaren 650S Spider’s retractable hardtop folds gracefully into the bodywork (17sec) and you can still do it while stuck in our city crawl speeds (30km/h)
This 650s is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing 641hp (478kW @7250rpm /678Nm), driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. This is good enough for 0-100km/h in 3.0sec, 0-200km/h in a blistering 8.4sec, and a 333km/h top speed as according to the manufacture.
Proactive Chassis Control (PCC) gives you the best of both worlds, from supple suspension in town to roll-free cornering on the racetrack for ultimate exhilaration. PCC is the most radical rethink of sports car suspension design in half a century, and addresses the conflicting objectives of dynamic handling and comfortable ride, to set new standards in both.
Now you can enjoy brake Steer on road or track in the McLaren 650S Spider. Brake Steer subtly uses the rear brakes to manage traction, minimise mid-corner understeer and control oversteer when you corner at speed, allowing you to unleash the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8’s full performance in maximum safety and to breathtaking effect. Factoring speed and steering angle, this system works out the perfect cornering trajectory. It then applies the exact amount of braking force required to the rear inside wheel as you corner – allowing the car to effectively pivot around the desired path.
Grip the tactile, small-diameter steering wheel and your fingertips’ sense of connection to the McLaren 650S Spider echoes that of McLaren’s racing drivers in a Formula 1 cockpit – the shape, the grip and the feel were all inspired by the steering wheels in our race cars. There are no buttons or switches to diminish the purity of interaction between man and machine. McLaren takes an approach of ‘you have a wheel, some paddles, go drive – and only drive’
It will come with a roadworthy certificate (RWC), Any inspection is welcome.
