How much my car is worth?

Are you able to sell a car with finance owing?

Yes, We have sold many vehicles with finance and depending on how much you have owing and the private sale value of the vehicle, we can assess if we can help you sell the car for more than you owe.

First, Inform the finance company and ask them for the “settlement figure” they’ll need from you to pay off your loan in full.
When the buyer agrees to buy the car, Before the sale we recommend to Pay off the settlement figure, plus any early repayment fee and administration fee the lender might charge.

Do you do trade-ins?

No, we don’t do trade-in as we are not a Dealership or Wholesaler.  But if you tell us what you have for trade in we are able to discuss the option with our clients based on the ability to help someone else that might be looking for that vehicle.

Do you use Carsales?

Yes, We do use Carsales as they have a great platform and the marketing options, tools and statistics they offer are helpful.

We use other vehicle selling websites also other than cars, please call us to discuss it in detail.

Who gets the call?

A Find Me Cars team member will be assigned to take care of the sale process and will take all incoming calls regarding your vehicle and in most time buyers try to negotiate the price first which we will handle and filter out the time wastes to the best of our ability.

What happens if someone wants to view the car?

A Find Me Cars team member will contact you to arrange a viewing time with the potential buyer.

The options are as follows:

  1. We arrange to pick up your vehicle and meet the potential buyer at an agreed location
  2. We can move the car at our premises for potential buyers to view for the fixed time.

What happens if they want to test-drive?

The buyer is looking for a new car and they would almost certainly want to drive the car to have an understanding of the car and see if it feels right for them.

This can be sometimes dangerous and make it very nervous part of selling the car, Having the vehicle in some else hands for the duration of the test drive can be hard or sometimes best to be safe than sorry.

We have done this many many times over and have worked out a great method to protect our self and your vehicle. Please ask us how.

Who keeps the deposit?

We do, We will hold the deposit until the sale is settled, most of the time we will deduct our due amounts from it.

What if the buyers want the deposit back? Depending on what the reason is, we will keep or return the deposit (case by case).

When someone buys my car is it a private sale?

Yes, any car that we sell is a private sale. Prices do not include on-road costs.

Are you a Dealership or a Wholesaler?

No, people call us personal Auto-Advocates or agents because we provide personalised car buying and car selling solutions.

Should I just trade the car in to a Dealer?

The easiest way to sell your car is to trade it in when buying a new or used car from a dealer.

You’ll probably get less for it than through a private sale, but you’ll avoid the work and expense of advertising and dealing with enquiries, viewings and test drives. But the dealer might not be prepared to negotiate over a part-exchange price.

If you sell privately you might get 10% to 15% more for your car than you would from a dealer.

Can I sell the car without a Road Worthy Certificate (RWC)?

No. In Victoria the law states that a Road Worthy Certificate must be provided for all registered vehicles at the time of transfer.
If the car is unregistered, then RWC is not needed.

What are your fees once the vehicle is sold?

We work with a commission cap on the sale price or/and fee for our service as the base.

Do you keep / store the vehicle for me?

No, we are not able to store the vehicle. We normally try to work around your availability.

Before sale preparations or repairs

Redbook Inspection Report

Redbook Inspection Report – $270.00

Having an inspection report can build a great amount of trust in the car and speed up the process of buyer making a decision and also have a better foot to stand on when it comes to negotiation as the car has passed or the seller is better informed and not to be miss lead by the potential buyer.

*Please note – This is not a Victorian Roadworthy certificate (R.W.C) inspection, This should be checked by a qualified Licensed Vehicle Tester at the time of the sale.*

Road worthiness Certificate Inspection (R.W.C - Vic)

Motor Mechanic – Road worthiness Certificate Inspection – $180.00 + Repairs*

We recommend getting a R.W.C or a Pre-inspection RWC done before going on the market for sale.

This will show up any safety problems with the car that might be an issue when buyers come to see the car or immediate safety concerns that might stop the sale before going to the market.

Doing this will give us a better negotiation tool knowing the fact that the car has passed and there are no concerns and the buyer can also buy confidently know this or if the repairs are required that they will be within the price and make it a fair sale when we negotiating with buyers.

We can then reflect it in the sale price with the repairs when advertising it or we can negotiate with a potential buyer within a budget to get the car sold and repaired for an expected budgeted price.

You are welcome to use your current motor mechanic to carry out a Pre-R.W.C inspection and share with us the written report (sorry no verbal quotes as this can make it harder when presenting to the buyer)

The cost of getting a roadworthy can depend on the age, type and condition of a vehicle or Mechanic and his speciality.

We can request a quote from a Licensed Vehicle Tester if you believe there is more work to be done before passing it or are unsure.

If the vehicle fails the test –  The item/faults/parts fails to meet the requirements, the vehicle tester will issue a rejection report. You’ll be given 14 days to repair or replace the rejected item/s and have them re-inspected.

If more than 14 days goes by, another full inspection will be required.

*This should be checked by a qualified Licensed Vehicle Tester at the time of the sale and MUST be included part of the sale by law in victoria.*

Vehicle Detailing – Car looking like it just left the showroom!

We recommend getting a Vehicle Detailed before putting it on the market for sale, Especially with the current COVID19 virus, knowing the car will be cleaned and looking like new will always help sell it sooner and even pays itself as we can ask for a higher price given the way the car looks compared to others on the market.

Repairs needed

Repairs needed – We understand accidents can happen.

We understand that accidents can happen and no matter how big or small there is a solution to the problem.
We are happy to arrange for quotes or recommend repairers for your vehicle.

We know that we are not selling a brand new car and therefor things can happen as these are mostly daily driven cars, so we are accommodating with these things but having the knowledge or even if the repair is simple to carry out it can sometimes pay itself as we can ask for a higher price given the way the car is more trouble-free to the new buyer.

If the car was involved in any accidents we would like you to be transparent as this will help better sell your car then the buyer letting us know when he conducts a buyer inspection report.

Please note if the car is recorded as a ‘repairable write-off’ in the Written-Off Vehicles Register (WOVR), You are legally required to tell if the vehicle’s written-off.
